Reverse Image Search and Prompts
#What is Reverse Image search for AI generated Images
One area that is rapidly evolving in the space of AI imaging is reverse image search. Typically, reverse image search was conducted using the metadata in the images (location, description, etc) or the information provided in the alt
tags of the images.
Alt tags refers to the text description of the image for the visually impaired persons and search engines alike to understand what the image on a page or app is displaying.
In case AI Image generation, the image prompts can get stored in a repository, which can be public or privately accessible and searchable. AI images often have something called as seed
or a unique ID of an image. Seed ID can also be used to search images of a particular type, format, style, and so on.
There are several other sites and resources where you can find prompts for generating images. I have used prompthero, lexica directly, Supermachine (which uses lexica and prompthero at the back end). for this section, I ran the search for "Sunrise at mount Kailash", which is a mountain peak in the Himalayas and is considered sacred by Hindus and Buddhists alike. The results looked something like below.

#How does the AI reverse search work?
To make effective use of AI reverse image search, ideally, you should start your search by describing what sort of image you are looking for. description of what the image is. Then use the modifiers like the examples provided below to find the image that most closely matches the image you are looking for. I have pasted some random search strings that I looked up on Lexica.ai.
Note that these prompts were given by others, I merely curated a short list and have done some basic editing for typos.
- Raja Ravi Verma painting search on Lexica
- Color blue 3 search on Lexica

#Other ways for finding Image Prompts
You can also extract image description of the commands used to generate a particular image by using image to text service. Thumbsnap is one of the many sites which offers such a functionality.

Many creators are happy to share their image prompts if you request them. Some may not 'open the whole Kimono' as they say, but you can get enough information to generate image variations of your own. You may also find image prompts on Twitter, Instagram and other social media sites.
There are sites that use Images to generate prompts for AI imaging. For this section, I used the Img2protmpt service from MagicStudio. The results of my experiments are posted in Chapter VI of this book.
